Wenden Swimming Club

20 September 2024

I congratulate Wenden Swimming Club in Miller for their highly successful participation in the MS Mega Challenge. The squad at Wenden have raised over $5000 in funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis. The event saw participants from Wenden swim an incredible 62.2 kilometres over a 24-hour period, all with a massive smile and for a great cause. I congratulate all participants and members of the community for your generosity in supporting this important cause. Multiple sclerosis affects more than 33,000 Australians, and because of the generosity of the Liverpool community, those Australians will be able to access important services that assist them in day-to-day life. Multiple sclerosis has a particular impact on young people. The average age of diagnosis is 30 and it affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition. Special shout out to Jorja Suga who was able to raise $830. Jorja is a former Liverpool Young Person of the Year. Community-minded and intuitive, Jorja has hustled hard to organise donations towards achieving this important goal. It is fantastic to see such community spirit in the Liverpool electorate.
