As a health professional, I am incredibly proud of the health and medical research that Liverpool is leading the way in. I attended the twelfth annual Ingham Institute Research Excellence Awards, which bring together leaders from government, health care, education, business and community who are all working together to transform health care in one of Australia's fastest growing regions. The Ingham Institute grounds its world-class medical research in the needs of the communities of south‑west Sydney. I congratulate the winner of the Lady Fairfax Distinguished Achiever Award, Associate Professor Tara Roberts. Her research into cancer and inflammation has had vast impacts in personalising patient care. I also congratulate Dr Abhi Pal, who received the Early Career Researcher Award; Nevenka Francis, who received the Higher Degree Student Award; the dual recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Award, Grace Micali and Shivani Mani; and the winner of the Best Administration and Research Support Award, Ashley Ford. On behalf of the people of Liverpool, I thank them all and recognise their valuable contributions.
